This week marks five months that Pat and I have been married. I know it’s probably insane that I feel the need to celebrate every little milestone, but I love celebrating the little things in life (plus, any excuse to re-watch our wedding trailer again and again is fine by me)! If you haven’t checked out part one of my California travel guide, make sure to check it out HERE (spoiler alert: it’s all about Sonoma, aka wine country, aka the best place…ever, and may make you want to book a flight there… immediately. Sorry, I’m not sorry).

We decided the our ideal honeymoon wouldn’t be laying on a beach and sipping cocktails (although that does sound on point), but driving down Pacific Coast Highway and truly seeing Northern California. I’m so glad that we took that journey together, because it was seriously magical! We drove from Sonoma to Big Sur, and made a stop along the way for two nights in San Francisco. Although the weather was a bit chilly and foggy, we still got to see so many fun sights. Pat and I both agree that San Francisco is a lot like New York! We also made a few other pit stops in Muir Woods, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Santa Cruz, Carmel and Half Moon Bay. Northern California is by far the most gorgeous place I have ever visited!
San Francisco is so alive and really did remind us of New York. Aside from a bunch of the touristy things we did (I won’t bore you), we stayed right in the heart of Union Square at a boutique hotel. If you’re into live music, I really recommend dueling pianos at Johnny Foley’s, and dinner on the pier at The Slanted Door (call for a reservation in advance, it books up super quickly).

Have you ever visited California before? If so, where is your favorite spot? I’d love to go back and visit Southern Cali next time! I’m much more of a warm weather type gal, if you know what I mean 😉 Leave me your travel recommendations below, I’d love to hear your favorite spots, recommendations and thoughts in general on the West Coast vs. the East Coast!
