OK, Let’s talk nails.
I constantly flip flop between doing my own and going to the salon. Sometimes, I’m frugal and think, why should I pay someone to do this for me? Other times, I totally convince myself that I’m worth it (we all are!), and should be pampered.
So whether I DIY, or spend the extra bucks, there’s still the decision between regular vs. gel, and what brand polish (the list is endless at this point). Let’s also not forget that time is definitely not on our side (or at least mine). When can you find an hour to spare to let your toesies dry to perfection? Today, I’m weighing in on my favs vs. flops.
Essie: Most Essie colors last a good amount of time for me without chipping. They also tend to dry fairly quickly without streaking. I love using the Seche Vite base coat and top coat to make sure everything is set and secure.
(Left to Right): Nice is Nice, Bachelorette Bash, Playa De Platinum, Turquoise and Caicos & Clam Bake
OPI: I have a few tried and true OPI colors that will always hold a special place in my heart (Lincoln Park After Dark will always be my forever winter shade), but overall, I don’t gravitate towards OPI colors. For a DIY manicure, I’ve found their polish brush is a little too wide for my nail size, so we’ll leave it at that!
Vinylux (by CND): My current obsession (for about the past year). This polish doesn’t chip and lasts a solid 7 days on my nails. It’s only now becoming popular in salons (they’ll charge you more for it) – but I’ve been using it for a while for my DIY manicures by purchasing off of Amazon.com. Note: this is not a gel.
(Left to Right): Romantique, Cake Pop, Decadence, Asphalt & Dark Dahlia
So what happens when you have all of the above figured out, but you realize your day is so jammed packed you physically don’t have the time? Manicube is the answer.
My office has Manicube and it’s the absolute best. Instead of braving the streets of NYC just to get a polish change, I walk across the office into a conference room where my nail technician is waiting. All services are paid for before hand, so there’s no hassle of paying during your service. They even do corporate events, parties and more. This is a game changer for anyone who spends 9-5 in an office. P.S. – they carry Vinylux products!
