The first week of 2019 was super productive and I’m feeling really good about the new year ahead!
Pink and Polka Dots has aways been my little “side hustle,” but as I approached the new year, I realized that I have SO MANY goals for this “little” side hustle of mine. When I first started a blog, I honestly had no idea what I was doing and how often I’d be able to keep up. If I’m being honest, I still feel the same exact way, except I have figured out and achieved a TON [more than I ever thought I could and would have], so it gives me the confidence and drive to keep pushing ahead. I have a post planned for later this year to share my blogging tips [a question I get on Instagram almost daily!] I also still find SO MUCH pure joy in blogging. In 2019, I have so many goals for PAPD. I want to share with you guys some of those goals, and hopefully they’ll inspire you within your passion projects too. Not all my goals are blog related, some personal, so I’ll share those with you guys too!
I have two rules that I live by when it comes to goal-setting…
Setting goals is the first step to achieving your resolutions for the new year, but simply writing out a goal won’t enable you to actually achieve those goals. Take each of your goals and go a step more granular. Plan out the steps that you’ll need to take to achieve those goals, and then specify exactly what you’ll do to get there. Plan out daily, weekly and monthly tasks that apply.
Allow yourself to fail
Obviously the whole point of setting goals is to make progress towards achieving them. It’s important to hold yourself accountable for your actions and push yourself towards the finish line. However, I’m also a firm believer in allowing yourself to fail. There are times when we all need a pass. Getting sick, family emergencies, vacation time with loved ones are all valuable time-spent outside of your goals. Allowing yourself to momentarily ‘fail’ or take a ‘pass’ for a justified reason doesn’t mean that you’ve failed towards your overall.
Be More Organized
1. With my blog
How? Utilize free web-based platforms like Google spreadsheets to create a weekly posting schedule. This not only will help to keep me organized [avoid missing obligations], but will also hold me accountable
2. In my home
How? Keep up with housework daily and weekly. Designate one day a week to do a larger cleanup [e.g. Vacuum and steam the floors every Sunday]. Sticking to this schedule should help me to stay on top of chores and ensure that I don’t fall behind [inevitably needing to do one large cleaning overhaul]
Live a Healthier Lifestyle
1. Tone my arms and stomach
How? Attend a yoga class every Saturday morning [which works with my schedule], and allows me to work on my upper body strength. Going to the gym another 2 days of out the week will also help with cardio
2. Take more supplements
How? Find a meal-replacement supplement that I like and commit to drinking one every day that I work out. Increase the amount of vitamins I take and hold myself accountable for taking them daily
3. Cook more at home
How? Make more time to meal-prep, and research healthy [and easy recipes]. Go food shopping weekly [or even daily] for the freshest ingredients, and to ensure food isn’t wasted
Strengthen My Marriage
1. Strengthen our relationship with god
How? Commit to going to church every Sunday morning & actively engage in prayer
2. Spend more quality time together
How? Make a bucket list of activities we want to do together. Make another list of restaurants we want to try. Refer to that list when we’re in a rut, or can’t figure out what to do
Grow My Blog
1. Increase my unique visitors to PAPD.co
How? Learn how to utilize Tailwind and it’s benefits. Publish more desirable content on PAPD.co that will drive readership
2. Land more brand partnerships
How? Send out pitch emails to brand daily/weekly. Tailor pitch emails to better suit bother myself and the brand
